親／当事者が発達障害と向き合うということ【１】

⚠︎：発達障害は先天的な脳の発達の偏りなので、親の躾や環境、また、本人のせいではありません。発達障害をややこしくしているのは、無理解、無知からくる不適切な対応などでさまざまな神経症や精神疾患を併発したことによる二次障害といえます。

現在１５歳の息子は小３の終わりに、今も継続通院中の児童精神科でさまざまなテストを受け、発達障害（ＡＤＨＤ・ＡＳＤ）の確定診断が下りました。

私は早くから違和感を感じあちこちの窓口に相談していましたが、発達障害は見た目や短時間過ごしただけではわからないことが多く、「子供なんてそんなものなのに、親が気にし過ぎで障害を作り出しているんじゃないの？」←これ、子供がいない夫婦に実際に言われました。「そんなに子供を障害児にしたいなんてどこかオカシイ」など、無理解と無知な知り合いから凄まじい言われ方をされた過去もあります。

腹が立つより、あまりの無知さと自分はなんでも知っていると思っている傲慢さを憐れに思ったのを覚えています。

障害を認める。

そこには親も子も高いハードルがあることを知っています。それは偏り「障害は“害”と付くくらいだし人より劣っているなんて恥ずかしい」という思いがあるからではないでしょうか。

“ち害（違い）”くらいにしか考えていなかった私は、確定診断に心からホッとしたのを憶えています。「あー、だから〇〇だったのね」「だから〇〇ができなかったのか」と行き場がなく掌に余っていたパズルがピッタリ嵌った瞬間でした。

そんな息子は小学校高学年で登校渋りから不登校にもなりました。発達障害（グレーも）があると、大多数の定型児（※）向きにカリキュラムを組まれた学習・授業、定型児だらけの学校生活に息苦しさや生きづらさを感じ、登校渋りや不登校になる確率が高いのです。

※定型：発達障害ではない人のことを『定型』と言い、定型児とは発達障害ではない児童の意。

「行けないもんは仕方ないよ、行きたいけど行けないんだもんね」・・・これは息子が絞り出すように「行きたいけど行きたくない（←行けない、ではなく行きたくないという表現により深い苦悩を感じます）」と泣きながら言った時、私が返した言葉です。

今以上に日々修羅場でしたが、二人でおにぎりを持ってピクニックしたり、部屋キャンプしてみたり好きな具を乗せまくったピザを一緒に作ったり、博物館へ行ったことは今となっては良い思い出です。現在進行形で尖りまくりの思春期真っ最中なので、思い出にしてしまうのは早いかもしれませんが（笑）

中学校では本人の希望もあり、一部の先生方を除き学校生活はクローズド（障害をカミングアウトしないこと）で中学生活を送りながら、他校の情緒級（通級）に通っています（入学した中学校には情緒級がなかったため）。

どんなに頑張ってもできないこと、工夫しても苦手なことは多々あります。面倒臭がりで忘れっぽいのと、タスク管理のガバガバさ、思い込みの強さや見通しの立てられなさからいつも何かを探していますし、意味不明なマイルールを振りかざしてはみるものの、本人が頭『？？？』になっていることもあります。

何かを探しているうちに何を探していたのかわからなくなり、良くも悪くも楽観的なＡＤＨＤ「ま、いっか〜」になることも多々あります（←良くない、困るのは本人）。好奇心旺盛で衝動性に抗えないＡＤＨＤですから、本人はできるつもり（やりたい気持ちもあり）で自分の脳のキャパシティを考えず、いろいろなことに手を付けますが、そのほとんどは途中で興味を失うか忘れ去られるか得意の「ま、いっか」で、結果放ったらかしになります。

学校生活で周りに特性で迷惑をかけないように必死で頑張っている（らしい）分、家ではあり得ないＡＤＨＤっぷりを発揮し、これが親子間衝突を引き起こします。脳のキャパシティが少ないのが発達障害で、多くの情報を同時進行で処理（マルチタスク）するのが苦手ですが、見た目にわからない障害だけに、“当たり前に”できる大多数と同じように“当たり前に”できるだろうと思われます。

本人が自分の脳のクセやキャパシティを知り、優先順位を付け、出来ること出来ないことの振り分けができて、苦手なことを上手に他者にお願い（助けてもらう／頼る）できるようになることが必要です。そのためには自分の特性を受け止め、受け入れ、理解していくことはとても重要なステップになります。
