占い依存症の一番の原因は、心の中にある不安感です。
自分の人生やパートナーとの関係などどうなるかわからない不確定な未来への強い不安感から占いを心の拠り所にしてしまうのです。
残念ながら未来のことは誰にもわかりません。占いがなければ不幸になる（今より事態が悪化する）という考えは、ただの思い込みです。
占い依存症になりやすいのは、どのような人達なのか考えていきます。
実は占いに限らず、依存症に陥る人にはいくつかの特徴があることがわかっています。
自分に自信がない（自己肯定感が低い）
占い依存症になりやすい人は、自分に自信がない傾向にあります。自分の考えに自信が持てないので、周囲の人や占いに頼ろうとします。占い師に相談することで、自分（の考えや出そうとしている解）に自信がなくても解決できるという安心感から、繰り返し鑑定を依頼するようになります。

人任せで自分で考えることがなくなっていくので、判断力が低下し何事に対しても占い結果が最良と考え、占いに依存していくのです。
周囲に相談できる人がいない
腹を割って話せる友人や信頼できる家族など、周囲に相談できる人がいない人も占い依存症に陥りやすくなります。誰かしら信頼できる相談者が近くにいるというのは、非常に心強いものですよね。しかし、周囲に相談できる人がいない人は自分一人で抱え込んでしまいがちなので、すがる思いで占い師に相談します。
誰かに悩みを打ち明けられる、アドバイスがもらえるという安心感から、占い依存症に陥ってしまうと考えられます。
真面目な性格
真面目な性格の人も占い依存症になりやすい傾向があります。ストレスや不安を溜め込みやすい真面目な人が不安な生活から目を背けたい、今より良くなりたいという気持ちから占いにのめり込んでしまいます。また、真面目な人は占い結果や占い師のアドバイスをそのまま信じ込みやすい傾向にあります。
占ってもらった結果どおりに行動しているうちに、占ってもらわないと精神的に落ち着かない不安定な状況になっていきます。
ただ、だからといって不真面目を推奨しているわけではないので誤解しないでくださいね。
スピリチュアルを信じる
スピリチュアルを信じる人も占い依存症に陥りやすいです。占いには血液型や生年月日から鑑定するものから、トランプ、タロット、オーラ占いなど直感的な占い方法などさまざまな種類があります。直感的な占いはスピリチュアルを信じる人がハマりやすい傾向があります。
自分の性格や悩みを言い当てられたことで『霊的な力がある！』と思いハマっていくのです。スピリチュアルや占いを信じることは悪いことではないと思っていますが、まずは自分の気持ちや考えを大切に考えて行動しましょう。
ストレスが溜まっている
これは誰もが当てはまることですが、日頃ストレスが溜まっている人も占い依存症に陥りやすい人の特徴です。ストレス耐性が低い人、普段から人間関係や仕事、恋愛など日常的に不安や不満を抱え込んでしまいがちです。
日頃の不安や不満を解消する手段として占いを利用するのです。
占い師に相談することで気分がスッキリし、自分で考えなくても占い師からアドバイスをもらえます。何度も利用するうちに盲信的になり、占い依存症に陥っていたということも少なくありません。
