人は皆それぞれ違う人間関係を築きながら、社会生活を送っています。そこで、今回は前篇【物理的距離感】、後篇【心的距離感】で、“人間関係でほどよい距離感”についてお話しようと思います。
私たちは不快感を避けるために、他者やモノとの間に無意識のうちに取ろうとする距離があり、それを
パーソナル・スペース（個人空間）
と言います。
その人を取り囲む空間において、他者が踏み込まない（踏み込んでほしくない）空間を指します。
パーソナル・スペースには物理的距離と心的距離があり、前篇の今回は物理的距離についてのお話です。
下の図を参考にしてください。
図における、それぞれの距離についての補足説明。 【密接距離】 夫婦や家族、恋人、パートナーといった近親な関係。→見知らぬ人が入ると不快に感じる。 【個人距離】 友人関係の他、医師や美容師など社会生活を送る中で近い距離で関わらざるを得ない関係。 【社会距離】 会社の上司や同僚など、言葉でのコミュニケーションが可能な距離。 【公的距離】 個人的コミュニケーションはほぼ不可能な距離。
また図が円ではなく楕円である理由は、例えば自分にとって同じ個人距離内にいる人であっても、相手によっては差があるからです。つまり、自分にとって『密接距離に近い人』か『社会距離に近い人』か、といった具合です。相手が“片思いの人”の場合と“いい人”の場合をイメージすればわかりやすいでしょうか（笑）

精神分析学の父と言われるフロイトが、寓話を元に考えた人間関係についての例え話で、心理学では有名な【ヤマアラシのジレンマ】というものがあります。
日本では、エヴァンゲリオンでも話が出た【ハリネズミのジレンマ】ですが、耳にしたことがある人もいるのではないでしょうか。ヤマアラシでもハリネズミでも同じ例えです（笑）
【ヤマアラシのジレンマ】
ある冬の寒い夜、２匹のヤマアラシが寄り添って暖め合おうとしますが、近過ぎると互いの持つ鋭いトゲで体を傷つけてしまい、離れ過ぎると寒さに震えてしまいます。寄り添ってみたり離れてみたりを繰り返すうちに、２匹のヤマアラシは互いの体を傷つけず、ぬくもりを感じられる、お互いにとってちょうど良い（ベストな）距離を見つける・・・というお話です。
人との関係が難しいと感じている人は多いと思います。人間関係の難しさの一つが距離の取り方とも言えます。自分も傷つかず、相手のことも傷つけない、それでも互いのあたたかさを分かち合える距離を見つけることが大切なんですね。
まずは、
相手を思いやる気持ちを持つことからがスタート
です。今回は物理的距離についてお話しましたが、次回は心的距離についてお話しようと思います。
