今回は視覚機能から【眼球運動】【視覚情報処理】【視空間認知】【協応動作】についてお話していきたいと思います。
視力（モノを見る）の他に、大事な視覚機能がいくつかあり、その一つが【眼球運動】という機能です。この眼球機能には“追従性眼球運動”と“跳躍性眼球運動”があり、対象物を目でゆっくり追うような動きが追従、ドッジボールで素早い動きのボールを追ったり、ホワイトボードから手元の資料に視線を移動するような動きを跳躍と言います。
字を覚えるためには追従機能が、読書やスポーツには跳躍機能が大切になりますが、眼科でおこなう視力検査では残念ながらチェックできません。
ビジョントレーニングという言葉をご存知でしょうか。脳力検定にもあるようですし、書籍も出ていて簡単に自分（あるいはお子さん）でトレーニングに取り組むことができますので、気になる人は探してみてくださいね。
今回お話する【協応】は目と手の協応動作のことで、どのようなことかというと、
目から情報を使い（情報処理）、体を動かす
ことです。わかりやすい例だと、三角定規を２枚使い平行な線を引く、折り紙を折る、点と点を結ぶ、箸で豆を摘む、キャッチボールをする・・・などです。
目と手の協応に問題があると、目から情報を使い予測をして、体を協調させ動かすことが苦手になります。これは、視空間認知にも関わってくることで、私たちは視覚情報から自分と対象物の距離や位置を把握し、方向や向き、奥行きや高さ大きさという空間を予測し理解しているのですが、視空間認知に弱さがあると左右認識が曖昧、立体的な絵が描けない、よく物にぶつかる、という日常生活での困り感も表れてきます。
この力が弱いと学校ではひらがな、カタカナ、アルファベットを覚えるのが苦手で、“さ”と“ち”や、“ｂ”“ｄ”“ｑ”などの、反転したり回転させると同じ形になる文字（記号）が捉えにくいということが起こり、結果、字を間違えたり書く読むことが苦手に繋がっていきます。
ビジョントレーニングと同様、自分（家庭）でも簡単にトレーニングできるので、最終回にいくつか紹介しようと思います。
