同調圧力がなんとも気持ち悪い
オリンピック開催における話です。
オリンピックについては国民感情がどうであれ、どうせ強行するだろうと思っていたので、何も感じていません。
オリンピックが始まり、日本人アスリートがメダルを取るたびにテレビメディアがこぞって「日本中が泣いた」「日本中を感動の渦に云々」「日本の悲願が云々」「暗い話題の中で明るい話題が云々」・・・これを気持ち悪く感じたり、押し付けと感じるのは私だけでしょうか・・・。大抵のことは聞き流すことができるのですが、この場合だけは言いようのない違和感に包まれるのです。
アスリートがオリンピックを目指し、死ぬ気で頑張ってきたのは想像に難しくないし、アスリートの立場だと本音では『オリンピックが開催できてよかった』だと思います。始まれば一部ではそれなりに盛り上がっている、のかもしれません。
これがコロナ禍でなければ興味が薄いにしろ、ここまで冷めてはいなかったでしょう。
私の周りにはメディカル、コ・メディカルが多くいて、感染リスクと闘いながら日常業務を日々粛々とこなしていますが、その周りでは感染し亡くなった人も多くいるのが現実で、身近な人を亡くした知り合いも一人や二人ではありません。そんな悲しむ暇もない人たちに、テレビメディアの言葉はどう映るのでしょうか。
なにも、一切報道するな、などとは思いません。
でも「日本中が泣いた」「日本中を感動の渦に云々」の言葉の中に“日本で開催されている東京オリンピック、日本人がメダル取った（健闘してる）んだから感動するよね？みんな感動するに決まってるよね？”とゆるゆる同調圧力をかけられているように感じてしまうのです。
「じゃ、テレビなんか見なければいいじゃないか」という意見があることも知っています。しかしそれは、一方への我慢の押し付けで排除の論理です。そんな単純な話ではありません。テレビメディアは公共の電波（国民の財産）を使っている以上、このコロナ禍においては配慮ある報道がされて当然だと思うし、無邪気に歓喜の言葉を並び立てる姿勢を問わなくてよいとは思いません。裏を返せばテレビ局が所有する自前の電波であれば、どんな報道をしようが勝手です。
なぜ同調圧力を生みかねない言葉を無邪気に使うのか？お涙頂戴が大好きな日本のテレビメディアはその体質は依然変わっていません。多分これからも変わらない気がします。それに乗じて『感動しないなんておかしい』『なんでオリンピック観ないの？』と感動しない（興味ない）人を非難したり、おかしいと言わんばかりの人々こそむしろ深刻で、旧態依然とした思考のままアップデートされていないと言わざるを得ません。
オリンピック開催が皮肉にも、同調圧力をこんなにもわかりやすく感じさせてくれています。社会全体が『五輪礼賛』という同調圧力に晒されているように感じます。その急先鋒がテレビメディアであり、私たちが試されているようでもあります。
私たち一人ひとりがオリンピックやワールドカップのような国際イベントに興じない人々が必ず一定数存在することをそろそろ理解し、感動の押し付けは止めませんか。職場や学校などで、そういうものを観ていない人や興味がない人を『冷めたヤツ』と言ったり非国民扱いするのはもう止めませんか。一部ではそれをオリンピックハラスメント、オリハラと言うそうです。また７月２７日にはこんな記事もありました。お時間がある時に読んでみてください。
時代はもう多様性にシフトしています。今はまだ企業だけが取り組むイメージが強い多様性ですが、そろそろ個人レベルでも多様性を理解し実践していく時代です。コロナ禍でのオリンピックとその報道を通して、日本は本当の意味で多様性な社会ではないこと、ダイバーシティなんてまだまだ絵に描いた餅で、インクルージョンなんて程遠いということを痛感しました。
