前回、群衆心理についてお話ししました。２回目となる今回は、組織で当たり前のようにパワハラ・モラハラが横行し、メンタルを病む人が増加の一途を辿り、痛ましいいじめが原因で自殺も後を絶たないことから、パワハラ・モラハラ、いじめ問題を群衆心理から考えてみようと思います。
いじめ問題というと子供の間のこととイメージされやすいですが、２０１９年秋に神戸の小学校で教員が教員をいじめるという事件が起きています。
パワハラやモラハラ、嫌がらせやいじめを目にしても、
「いい加減にすればいいのに」
「誰も止めないの？」
「さすがにやり過ぎじゃないか」
と思っても誰も止めず、なるべくなら関わらないように見て見ぬフリをする・・・通りすがりの道端でなくても学校や組織でもよくあることではないでしょうか。
関わることで自分にとばっちりが来たり、巻き込まれて面倒なことになるのを避けるために無視する（見なかったことにする）、これは自分の身を守るための合理的な行動で、心理学ではそれを【傍観者効果】と言います。
わかりやすく説明すると、事故や事件、災害や傷病者がいるなど何らかのトラブルがある状況において、自分以外にも多くの他者がいる時に自分からは積極的に行動を起こさなくなることを傍観者効果と言います。
傍観者効果が起こるにはいくつかの原因があります。
○責任の希薄、分散化
人は集団の中の一人になることで、一人の時より自分の責任が多数に分散され軽くなります。責任が分散されることで、自分からは行動を起こしにくくなったり、責任感を感じにくくなるのです。
また見て見ぬフリをしている人がいる状況では「自分だけが見て見ぬフリをしているわけではない」と自らを正当化することで、自分が何も行動を起こさなかった罪悪感や、ひょっとしたら向けられるかもしれない非難を意図的に軽減しようとする無意識な心理も働きます。
○無知の多元化
自分以外の多くの他者が積極的行動を起こしていないことから、目の前にあるトラブルは早急に対処するような問題でもないと考えてしまいます。パワハラや嫌がらせ、いじめに遭っている人がいても、皆が見て見ぬフリをしているのを見ると「別に自分がわざわざ上（あるいは先生）に報告しなくてもいっか」「きっと誰かが報告してくれるんじゃないか」と他の人の行動を見て判断してしまったりもします。
○評価懸念
自分以外は様子見をしたり見て見ぬフリをしている中で、もし自分が積極的に行動したことを他者に否定的に捉えられたら（いい格好しやがって／偽善者ぶっちゃって／次のターゲットはアイツだな）、という恐れや不安のことを言います。
良かれと思っての行動を『面倒なヤツだ』などとマイナス評価されるのを恐れることが評価懸念です。評価懸念は群衆心理で群衆抑制とも言われます。

面倒なことになるかもしれない（ならないかもしれないけど）ことにはなるべく関わらない、自分自身や家族を守るために必要な時もありますよね。気ままな一人暮らしではなく、守らなくてはいけない子供もいるので当然ですが私にもあります。
群衆心理や傍観者効果という言葉があり、それにはどんな意味があり何が原因になっているのかということをお話ししたかったので、“見て見ぬフリ”は良くない、やめるべきだ、という話ではありません。
私たち一人ひとりには生活があります。職場において孤立しかねないリスクを自ら背負い、大切な生活に悪影響が出る可能性があることは誰でもしたくありません。見て見ぬフリも大切とは言いませんが、仕方ない時もあります。そこで自分のこととして何を思うか、考えるか・・・それが大切な気がします。無関心や他人事として思考停止にならないようにしたいものです。
