解がないのもまた解

ゴーデンウィークは緊急事態宣言などで、旅行はもちろん、大した外出すらできなかった人も多かったのではないでしょうか。

今回は『解がないのもまた解』ということで、数学のような標題ですが、生きていると解があることのほうが少なく、解がないことのほうが多い気がします（笑）人の数だけ解があり、また立場によっても解は異なりますね。

会社だけではなく、パートナーに友人、親子関係と身近には距離や関係性の違う多くの人間関係が存在し、私たちはそれらの人間関係に取り巻かれて生活しています。

今回は親になれば誰もが直面する“親子関係”について考えてみました。

コラムでも何度か書いていますが、どんな名家でも子沢山家庭でもシングル子育て中であっても、共通することが、“子供は親の持ち物”ではない、ということです。もちろん親の夢を叶える“道具”でもありません。

どんなに外見や気質が似ていても、親とは違う人生を歩む（歩む自由と権利がある）、認知も感情も違う、血の繋がりが（しかない）ある別人格の他者だからです。この“血の繋がり”というものが厄介なところでもありますが。

私自身、子を持つ一人の母親ですから「〇〇のように育ってくれたらいいな」くらいの漠然とした子供に対する期待はあります。私の子育てのベースにあるのは【自由を主張するなら自由に伴う大いなる責任を知ること。義務と権利は対であること。努力は自分がするもの、評価は他者がするもの。】を教えることです。

発達障害である息子は、定型と言われる子供とは違う苦労がありますが、心掛けていることがあります。“どんな激しい喧嘩をしてもクールダウンしたら親もきちんと謝る”ことと、忙しくても手を休め時間を作り、“丁寧に話を聴く”“子供の意思確認をし尊重する”です。

現在中学生で思春期真っ只中の息子とはぶつかり合いも多く、掴み合い寸前の激しいバトルを繰り返していますが、困った時や苦しい時は私に話をし、頼ります。普段は“返事はまずＮＯで”が基本のようですが、どうやら「何かあったら母は力になってくれる。話をちゃんと聞いてくれる、母は自分の味方だ」とわかっているようです。

親として「〇〇すればいいのに」と思うことは多々あるのですが、親の経験値から話をすると「母さんの言ってることは正論過ぎてムカつく」と食って掛かられるので（笑）、今はゆるく傾聴しながら「君はどう思うの？」「なぜそう思うの？」「だったらどうしたい？／どうしたらいいと思う？」と、とにかくアウトプットさせることで一旦外に置き、なるべく冷静に思考が整理できるように、を心掛けています。

育てたように子は育つと言われますが、この接し方が【解】なのかわかるのは、まだまだ先だと思います。

巷で話題の“毒親”にはネグレクトやわかりやすいさまざまな虐待はもちろんですが、「いつまでも子供は子供のまま」と手取り足取り過干渉で、無意識に子供の自立を阻む“優しい虐待”タイプの親もいます。

それを愛情と勘違いし、無意識に優しい虐待を続けていると、子供は思考することを学べず、決定を他者任せにする“自己決定”ができないまま成長し、自己表現ができないと同時に責任を負うことを学べないまま成長します。

泣くことでしか意思表示ができない何もできない赤ん坊から、自我が芽生え泣く以外の意思表示ができるようになり、言語習得が進むと反論し、可愛げなく猛烈に反発するようになります。人生経験値の浅い子供の自己決定は時として大失敗します。当然まだ責任など負えませんから、取れる責任ならば親がその責任を負い、子供はしでかした失敗で傷つき落ち込みます。

親が道をならし怪我をしないように平坦に整えるのも愛情なら、本人が歩きたいなら敢えて凸凹の道を歩ませ、転んで傷ついて落ち込んだ時に手を差し出すのも愛情だと思うのです。

失敗してもできることを増やしていくために、いつまでも同じ手の差し伸べ方ではなく、少しずつ手を放していく。糸の切れた凧にならないように“見守る”ことの大切さ、“信じる”ことの難しさを改めて感じながら、毎朝新しい気持ちで息子と向き合っています。『手は放しても目は離すな』と誰かが言っていたことを思い出します。

・・・ときれいにまとめたいところですが、新しい気持ちで朝を迎え顔を合わせた途端、相変わらず「スマホを取る前に薬飲んでね」「後で！」「君の忘れっぽさで後は二度と来ないから今飲んで！」と言い合いをしているのが日常です（笑）
