息子には小学校高学年から徐々に特徴が表れてきましたが、大きく分けると認知、視知覚認知からで至るところで細々と重なり合った困り感として表れました。
まず認知面ですが、「友達に気に入らないことを強く言われた」と泣いて帰り、時間をかけ聞き取りをしていくと、端々で独特の捉え方をしていることや傷つきやすさを持っていることがわかりました。ＡＳＤにありがちな“前後の文脈に関係なく言葉の字面そのものを受け取る”と“思い込みが強く修正が利かない”ところからです。
「掃除時間にふざけている人がいたから班長として注意した。そしたら、笑いながら『バッカじゃねーの、うぜー！』と言われた。」「僕は間違ったことはしていないしバカじゃない。お母さんも人にバカなんて言っちゃいけないって僕に言ったよね？僕『バッカじゃねーの』って言われた。とても傷ついた、これはイジメだと思う！」この翌日、登校渋りになりました。
確かに人に向かって「バカ」「うぜー」は意識的にせよ無意識的せよ、どちらでも良くはないと思います。でも、そんなに深く傷つき重たく捉えることなのか？と疑問に思う私がいるのは確かです。
ここは本人の性格だと思いますが、サラッと「ちゃんと掃除やらないといけないよー」ではなく、結構強く言ったらしいのです。クソ真面目で自分なりのマイルール“だけ”は守ろうとし、そこから外れるのはどうにもこうにも認められない、
許せないというＡＳＤの特徴と、思ったことを思ったまま後先考えず且つ我慢できず口に出してしまうＡＤＨＤの衝動性の両方の特徴
が表れています。
小学６年にもなると、言い方やタイミングを考えなければ『いい子ぶりやがって』と受け取られ、「バッカじゃねーの、うぜー！」と反発を喰らうと思います。こんなことばかりが学校生活で起こると、当然クラスメイトからは『面倒なヤツ』と思われ距離を置かれたり、クラスでの居心地が悪くなるのもわかります。
何度「正義が王道とは限らない。いくら正しいことを言っても、タイミングや言い方を間違えば反発を喰らい嫌われてしまう。そうなると自分の居心地も悪くなるんだよ」と話しても、残念ながら今のところまったく入りません。人の間違いに対しては、思ったことを思ったタイミングで言葉を選ばず（選べず）キリッ！と強く指摘し、思ったとおりの反応がなかったり反発されると「傷ついた」「嫌なことを言われた」そして「学校行きたくない」になってしまいます。多い時はこれが毎朝です。
明るく元気で成績も良く、素行にも問題なし、率先して手伝いもするし、できるできないはともかく何事にもクソ真面目に取り組み、困ったらすぐに先生に相談という姿勢は、先生達の評価は高くても、係などに立候補するだけしておいて、その係の仕事はサボり気味（ＡＤＨＤ特有の飽きっぽさ）でペアの児童に負担をかけまくり、そのくせ『すぐに先生に言いつける』『偉そうに注意する』『話をしていると割って入り、話したいことだけ話して人の話は聞かない』、これでは自分勝手極まりなく映るのは当たり前で、クラスメイトには嫌われやすいですし、遠巻きにされます。
これが独特の認知面から人間関係の拗れやぶつかりとして表れました。書き切れないほど多くのエピソードがあり、『そうきたか！』と驚きの日々です。
一度失敗（傷つき体験）すると、似た場面から全力で逃げようとするので（自分の心を守る防御反応でもありますが）、“振り返りからの反省”に上手く結び付けることができません。起こった出来事を繋がりではなく『嫌なことがあった、嫌なことを言われた』の一部だけを取り出し、ネガティブメモリーとして残るからで、これはＡＳＤ独特の認知特性とも言えます。
それに加えて息子がややこしいのは、
ＡＤＨＤも重複していることで、起こった出来事の嫌な部分だけは残るのに（ＡＳＤ）、すぐに忘れて反省できない（ＡＤＨＤ）が重なり、対応がとても取りづらくなっている
のが現実です。

話は逸れますが、【散らかった部屋】を例にＡＳＤとＡＤＨＤの違いを見てみましょう。
ＡＳＤには、キチッとラベリングして整然と片付けるタイプと、あちこちに物を置き一見散らかっているように見えるタイプがいるのですが、後者のタイプでも「どこに何があるか」は本人がちゃんと把握しており、片付けをしようと他者が勝手に物を動かすことをとても嫌います。自分なりの使いやすさやルールに則って置いてあるからで、無秩序に見えて実は彼らなりの秩序があるからなのです。
ＡＤＨＤは、ただただとっ散らかします（笑）まるで、整理整頓という概念が備わっていないかのような無秩序＆無秩序な散らかりようで、解決するには究極のミニマリストとして生きるか、自ら暮らしやすいライフハックを身に付けるか、親元で生活するか、お世話が気にならない面倒見のよいパートナーに恵まれるか・・・でないと、“瞬く間に物が消えるのに散らかりまくったカオスな空間”の住人になってしまいます。
なぜ片付けられないのか？は不注意や衝動性だけではなく、視知覚認知も関わってきます。
